Friday Night Skate in Copenhagen: Roll Together

10/09/2024 Pradyot Sharma, Youth Officer at ISCA

This year's Friday Night Skate was a blast! Unlike last year's rain-soaked event, we had a clear sky and double the turnout—675 skaters! People gathered a few hours before the event to prepare and explore the merchandise on the stall.

The experience at the Friday Night Skate was amplified with the presence of a few unique characters, like Deadpool or Tweety the Duck. But the one who truly stole the show was the #BeActive panda, ISCA's mascot representing the European Week of Sport Denmark, who rode on someone's back while gliding on roller skis!

The atmosphere was energised; everyone expressed themselves freely while rolling around and sharing a strong sense of community. Families skated together, some with their kids in trolleys, and it was heartwarming to see people of all ages joining in.

The event was not just about fun but also about safety. It was impeccably organised, with safety blockers ensuring no one merged into traffic and a professional crew clearing the roads for us. The organisers even provided a free baggage storage facility, allowing us to store our belongings safely. ISCA demonstrated its commitment to safety by providing safety reflectors and rewarding some skaters with hoodies.

It was the perfect evening to #BeActive and connect with people!
